Vincent Balvet

Manager, Expertise & Applications at Vizimax

Vincent Balvet has over 30 years of experience in the field of software engineering, beginning with an internship at IBM France in 1988. Vincent then moved to Altran in 1989, where they worked as a Software Engineer, designing large components of a military satellite's on-board software and ground station. In 1994, they joined CAE as a Software Designer.

In 2000, Balvet moved to SNC-Lavalin, where they served as Proposals Manager, Project Manager, and Engineering Group Leader. As Project Manager, they managed a partnership between SNC-Lavalin and FAMIC Technologies, delivering one of the world's largest real-time wind power generation data acquisition (SCADA) and forecasting systems. As Engineering Group Leader, they led the group responsible for the design, development, and deployment of all real-time generation management, operations planning, and Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) applications.

In 2010, Balvet joined GE Digital Energy as Commercial Manager, where they were responsible for proposals and responses to international and domestic calls for tenders. Vincent was credited with key wins in both the North American and international markets.

Most recently, Balvet has been Manager, Expertise & Applications at Vizimax Inc. since 2015. Vincent manages a team of power, controlled switching, PMU, substation automation, and SCADA application experts, and is a member of the company's upper management team and projects committee. Vincent is also heavily involved in commercial operations and Ts&Cs negotiations.

Vincent Balvet obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer Science from ENSIERB - Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Informatique, Électronique et Radioélectricité de Bordeaux between 1986 and 1989. Vincent then pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Université de Bordeaux.
