Joe Demars

Joe DeMars has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology and security. Joe is currently serving as the Head of Development, Security, & Operations (DevSecOps) at VIZIO since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Security Architect at VIZIO from June 2021 to July 2022.

Before joining VIZIO, Joe worked at Millennium Space Systems, A Boeing Company, where they held multiple roles. Joe served as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer and Peer Team Lead from April 2020 to June 2021. Joe also worked as the Head of Information Security from March 2019 to April 2020 and as an Information Systems Security Manager/Engineer from December 2017 to March 2019.

Joe's previous experience includes working at North Dakota Air National Guard as a Computer Network Defense Analyst from January 2014 to March 2018. In this role, they gained expertise in Windows and Unix management and configuration, object-oriented programming, shell scripting, information assurance, and CLI on Windows and Linux based systems.

Joe also worked at Leidos as an IT Field Service Technician II from May 2017 to December 2017, providing IT repair, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to ensure the availability of Army Military Intelligence Enterprise IT Systems.

Joe started their career in the United States Air Force as an Information Technology Specialist. Joe served as a Technical Sergeant Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of multiple IT teams. Joe'sresponsibilities included system administration, performance tuning, and management of various systems.

Joe DeMars attended Minnesota State University Moorhead from 2016 to 2018, where they earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Technology. Prior to that, they attended the Community College of the Air Force from 2007 to 2013, where they obtained an Associate of Science degree in Maintenance production management. In terms of additional certifications, Joe obtained various certifications including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in March 2023, Certified Linux Administrator (LPIC-1) from Linux Professional Institute (LPI) in November 2021, Splunk Certified User from Splunk in February 2018, CompTIA A+ ce Certification from CompTIA in May 2021, CompTIA CySA+ ce Certification from CompTIA in October 2020, CompTIA Security Analytics Professional – CSAP Stackable Certification from CompTIA in October 2020, Security + SY0-401 from CompTIA in October 2017, and Splunk Core Certified Power User from Splunk in April 2020.
