Tessa Acar

Tessa Acar is currently serving as a Community Manager at the AI Competence Center within Digitaal Vlaanderen since April 2024. Previously, Tessa worked as a Communication Officer for Open Science policy and Community Manager at Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Vlaanderen from March 2022 to April 2024. Tessa also gained experience as a Visiting PhD Student at INRAE from September 2019 to August 2022, where research focused on in planta experiments and microscopy while collaborating with the microscopy platform of the FR AIB. Tessa completed a PhD in Microbiology at Ghent University, where research centered on the symbiosis between an African Yam plant and its bacterial partner. Earlier roles include a Master Thesis Student at VIB and various positions during studies in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Ghent University. Tessa holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Microbiology, as well as Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Ghent University.
