Arend Smit

Arend Smit is an experienced educational leader with a diverse background in various prominent roles within the Dutch education sector. Currently serving as a Bestuurder at Stichting Keizer Karel and a member of the Raad van Toezicht at SWV VO Amstelland en de Meerlanden, Arend Smit has also been an active bestuurslid for VO Raad Regio Midden since April 2014. Arend served as vice-voorzitter at the SRVO Stichting Schoolleiders Register Voortgezet Onderwijs until July 2023 and held the position of voorzitter at Netwerk van Schoolleiders from July 2015 to June 2021. Additionally, Arend's contributions as an advisor for VO-academie spanned almost a decade, alongside involvement in various advisory and leadership roles at Penta Nova and Samenwerkingsverband Noord-West Veluwe. As rector of Corlaer College from October 2006 to July 2018, Arend managed a large and innovative school that catered to over 2,000 students. Arend Smit holds a Master's Degree from the Nederlandse School voor Onderwijsmanagement and has a background in educational management from the University of Groningen.
