Mary Thrift has a diverse work experience, starting in 2013 as a Sales Assistant and later becoming a Concession Manager at Darling. Mary then worked as a Freelance Designer/Maker, undertaking various roles such as an Art Department Assistant and an Assistant to Fred Butler. In 2015, Mary joined ATIKA London Ltd. as a Design and Production Assistant for REMIX by ATIKA, followed by a promotion to Design and Production Manager for ATIKA Studio and REMIX by ATIKA. Currently, they are working as a Technical Designer at Vollebak. Throughout their career, Mary has been involved in trend research, design, pattern cutting, sampling, fabric and trim sourcing, communication with manufacturers, and visual merchandising.
Mary Thrift has a diverse education history. In 2007, they pursued a Foundation degree in Art and Design at Oxford Brookes University. Following this, from 2008 to 2012, they studied Textile Design with Business Studies and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Brighton. In 2009 and 2010, they attended Brighton MET and Northbrook College and received an NCFE Level 1 in Pattern Cutting. In 2017, they completed a City and Guilds Level 2 in Pattern Cutting at Kensington and Chelsea College. Most recently, Mary pursued a Master of Arts degree in Pattern and Garment Technology: Creative Pattern Cutting from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, from 2019 to 2021.
