Thom Nichols has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Thom began their career at Rochester Institute of Technology/ Online Learning as a Web Application Developer, building an online peer evaluation system. Thom then worked at Thomson West as a Software Engineer, specializing in Enterprise Java development and XML processing for web applications and data publishing workflows. Thom also served as a contract web developer for RumbleCard, where they developed portions of the Ajax UI for their website.
In 2008, Thom became the developer and project maintainer for the open-source HTTPBuilder framework, which is a versatile HTTP client API for the Groovy JVM language. Thom also worked as an Adjunct Faculty member at ITT Technical Institute, teaching computer programming courses.
Thom joined EnerNOC in 2007 as a Principal Software Engineer in the Advanced Technology group, leading hardware and software R&D projects in the clean tech industry. Thom played a crucial role in the development of the OpenADR 2 technology.
At SendGrid Labs Providence, Thom worked as a Software Engineer, where they built new products and services to enhance the capabilities of developers. Thom was part of a small team responsible for Loader.io.
Finally, Thom is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at VoltServer Inc. since 2014.
Thom Nichols completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. Thom attended from 2001 to 2006. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in April 2018.
