Wenchang Zhang has a diverse range of work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Wenchang started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at ArcBotics, a U.S. startup, where they worked in an international team. Following that, they completed a mini-thesis on Agile Product Development at Werkzeugmaschinenlabor, WZL der RWTH Aachen. In this role, they researched innovative concepts for quality-oriented product development.
Wenchang then joined KACO GmbH + Co. KG as a Mechanical Engineering Intern, where they worked in the AXIA sealing development department. Here, they were responsible for constructing test parts, quality inspection, test planning, and data processing automation.
Afterwards, Wenchang worked at NINGBO TIANSHENG SEALING PACKING CO. LTD as part of their Master's thesis. Wenchang studied the operating principle and development of self-tightening connector design procedures, utilizing experimentation and FEA. Wenchang proposed a parameter-driven system design workflow and corresponding FEA models.
Currently, Wenchang is employed at VoltStorage as a Technical Project Manager. Wenchang started in 2023 and is responsible for overseeing projects and ensuring their successful completion. In addition, they also hold the role of Mechanical Engineer at VoltStorage, which they have held since August 2019.
Wenchang Zhang obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University. This degree was earned between the years 2011 and 2015. Following this, Zhang pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University from 2015 to 2018. In addition to the M.Eng. degree, Zhang also earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Production System Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, with studies conducted from 2015 to 2017. Furthermore, Zhang obtained a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification from the Technical University of Munich in July 2022.
