Richard Boyer

Richard Boyer's work experience includes a role as the Chief Medical Officer and Cofounder at HoopCare, a digital perioperative health startup. Richard is also a Runway Startup Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell Tech. Previously, they worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Van Poznak Research Scholar at Weill Cornell Medicine. Richard was a Cofounder at VoluMetrix, a Vanderbilt University spin-out focused on developing non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring systems. Richard Boyer founded the CoVent-19 Challenge, an open innovation challenge aimed at developing solutions for the COVID-19 mechanical ventilator crisis. Before that, they were an Anesthesiology Resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Senior Research & Development Engineer at Baxter International Inc., where they led technology development projects.

Richard Boyer began their education in 2003, receiving a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in 2007. Later, they attended Vanderbilt University, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2012 to 2015. During this time, Boyer also enrolled in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, participating in the MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program. Richard completed their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2016.
