Gopi Dhokai

Gopi Dhokai currently serves as the Clinical Community Services Director at Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas and as a City Council Member for the City of Hyattsville, Maryland. As the Owner and Psychotherapist in Private Practice, Gopi has provided culturally competent therapy to BIPOC and LGBTQIA clients while managing all financial aspects of the practice. Previously, Gopi held roles at Point32Health and Tufts Health Plan, focusing on behavioral health management and medical necessity evaluations. Gopi's extensive experience also includes program management at Health Leads, where supervision of undergraduate volunteers was a key responsibility, as well as supervisory positions at The Guidance Center and St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in varying capacities related to mental health and substance abuse counseling. Gopi holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College and a Business Management certificate from Vanderbilt University.
