Ava Hanner

Ava Hanner, M.S., APIO, currently serves as the Public Information Officer for the New Smyrna Beach Police Department since April 2024. With extensive experience in public safety and emergency management, Ava has held various roles within the County of Volusia, including Ocean Rescue Lifeguard and EMT positions. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Public Affairs Officer at the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and as a Community Information Specialist for the City of DeLand Government. Ava possesses a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Emergency and Crisis Management from the University of Central Florida, along with additional certifications in Police Leadership and Emergency Medical Technician training.
