Michael "Jake" Johansson, MPA, currently serves as a County Councilman At Large for the County of Volusia since January 2023 and is the President and Head Consultant at Core Concepts Leadership, where the focus is on fostering effective servant leadership. Previously, Jake held the position of City Manager for the City of Port Orange from August 2015 to December 2020, contributing to significant improvements in safety and housing market rankings. Jake's extensive military background includes serving as Commanding Officer for Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads and Chief Operations Officer for Commander, Naval Air Force, Pacific, among other roles. Jake's education includes a Master of Public Administration from Strome College of Business and a BAS in Management from Troy University.

The scenic St. Johns River, famed for its bass fishing, links magnificent parks with wildlife preserves along the county's western border. True southern charm can be found in DeLand, the county seat. This unique city features an award-winning downtown filled with antique shops and quaint restaurants, surrounded by stately historic homes and buildings. Volusia County is about an hour's drive north of Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center. It's also within a few hours' drive of other major Florida communities, such as Tampa (140 miles), Miami (250 miles), or Jacksonville (90 miles).
