Darren James has a wide range of experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement roles. Darren started their career at Dura Automotive as a Quality Engineer from 1998 to 1999. Darren then worked at AETC Ltd as a Production Engineer from 2001 to 2003. Darren then joined Borg Warner Turbo Systems, where they held various roles, including Lean Six Sigma Manager and Manufacturing Engineer, from 2003 to 2007. Darren then joined Volvo Group as a Senior Lean Coach from 2007 to 2012, where they played a crucial role in developing and deploying the Volvo Production System. Following this, they worked at Volvo Trucks as the Global Continuous Improvement Director from 2012 to 2015, leading a team in implementing the Volvo Production System globally. Currently, Darren James is working at Volvo Construction Equipment as the Head of Quality Assurance, responsible for driving proactive quality in new product development and developing the global operations quality strategy.
Darren James completed their education with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Advanced Course in Design, Manufacture & Management from the University of Cambridge in 2000. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Manufacturing Engineering & Management from Loughborough University in 1998. Darren also holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough College, which they attained between 1994 and 1996. Darren started their educational journey by obtaining an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough College between 1992 and 1994.
