VoteAmerica is a fiercely nonpartisan nonprofit organization founded by a small team of technology & election experts (including the founder of Vote.org), all driven by the shared mission of increasing voter turnout rates by making it more convenient to cast your ballot. We reject outright the idea that low voter turnout is due to voter apathy, instead acknowledging that it is the result of decades of intentional partisan voter suppression efforts which have disproportionately affected the most economically and socially marginalized communities. The goal of our work is to systematically identify and remove roadblocks, in order to support and empower all populations to navigate the path to exercising their vote. We do this by providing access to trusted election information, building accessible open platform tech tools, conducting research, and running data-informed educational programs. The VoteAmerica theory of change is simple: Americans don’t need to be convinced to vote. They need to be able to vote.
