Gavin Smith

CEO, CTO & Co-Founder at Voxon Photonics

Gavin Smith has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, with a focus on Oracle databases and configuration management. Gavin is currently the CEO, CTO & Co-Founder at Voxon Photonics.

Gavin started their career at the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1996 as a Configuration Management Technical Analyst. In this role, they were responsible for managing the bank's software code using CA Endevor. Gavin also designed and coded utilities using JCL/REXX/ISPF/SORT, and published and wrote user documentation using frontpage and MS-Word.

In 2007, Gavin moved to Newmont Gold Mining Company as a Project Administrator. In this role, they helped co-ordinate the running of an IT outsourcing project.

In 2008, Gavin joined the University of Adelaide as a Senior Oracle Database Administrator. In this role, they were responsible for the day-to-day administration of around 180 databases, writing SQL and Unix Shell Scripts, maintaining Enterprise Manager, doing backups and restores, fault logging, performance monitoring, and report writing.

Since 2015, Gavin has been the CEO, CTO & Co-Founder at Voxon Photonics. Voxon is a world leader in 3D volumetric displays – unique displays that can create 3D images in mid-air without any need for eyewear.

Gavin Smith has a Master's degree in IT from the University of Strathclyde, as well as a degree from Elgin Academy Scotland.
