Akaash Gupta

Akaash Gupta has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Akaash is currently working as the Deputy General Counsel at VSCO®, starting in December 2021. Prior to this, they held various positions at Udemy, starting as a Corporate Counsel in January 2017 and eventually working their way up to become the Director of Legal, Associate General Counsel. At Udemy, they were responsible for managing commercial transactions, negotiating agreements, and scaling the contracting function to support the company's rapid growth.

Before joining Udemy, Akaash worked as a Corporate Counsel at Zendesk from September 2014 to January 2017. Akaash handled commercial contracts, technology transactions, and provided legal support in areas such as procurement, sales, product development, and data protection.

Prior to Zendesk, Akaash gained valuable experience as a Legal Counsel at HCL America from July 2013 to September 2014. Here, they provided legal support for complex contracts and served as the primary legal contact for critical customer accounts.

Akaash Gupta began their legal career as a Legal Counsel at DeWind from September 2010 to July 2013. Akaash'sresponsibilities included reviewing and negotiating contracts, conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and ensuring corporate and regulatory compliance.

Akaash also had the opportunity to work as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Justice Thomas Balmer at the Oregon Supreme Court in 2008. Here, they conducted legal research, wrote memoranda, and assisted in the revision and editing of final opinions.

Additionally, Akaash gained experience as a Legal Extern at Oregon Public Broadcasting, where they evaluated broadcast agreements, advised on copyright and intellectual property issues, and counseled the company on matters related to music rights and expansion.

Akaash started their legal career as a Janet D. Steiger Fellow at the Oregon Department of Justice in 2007. Here, they drafted legal documents and performed document review for complex litigation cases.

In addition to their degrees, they recently obtained a certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in September 2021.
