Jamie Starkel

Jamie Starkel has a strong background in information security and systems engineering. They most recently worked at VSP Vision Care, starting as a Senior Systems Engineer in July 2008 and progressing to Senior Information Security Engineer in March 2017. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Information Security Engineer at the same company, starting in October 2022. Before joining VSP Vision Care, Jamie worked at DefenseWeb Technologies, Inc. as a Systems Administrator from August 2005 to July 2008. Prior to that, they were a Systems Administrator at Kawasaki Theilacker Ueno & Associates from August 2001 to August 2005 and started their career as a CAD Drafter at the same company from June 1999 to August 2001.

Jamie Starkel received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from San Diego State University, graduating in 2003. In terms of certifications, Jamie obtained several credentials, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services in 2015, GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) from GIAC in 2010, GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) from GIAC in 2010, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) from GIAC in 2009, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2009. Additionally, Jamie served on the GIAC Advisory Board.
