Aki Nikolaidis

Aki Nikolaidis has a diverse work experience in the fields of neuroscience and research. Aki is currently serving as the Chief Science Officer at Visionary Training Resources [VTR], a position they started in June 2021. Prior to this, Aki worked at the Child Mind Institute as a Research Scientist starting in January 2018. Aki also held the position of Postdoctoral Fellow at the same institute from May 2016 to January 2018. Aki started their research career as a Neuroscience Graduate Student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2011 and continued in the role of Graduate Student until April 2016. During their time at the university, Aki focused on the Lifelong Brain and Cognition Lab, conducting research on the effects of cognitive training and exercise on brain functioning. Their role involved using various neuroimaging techniques, such as fMRI, MRS, and DTI, in conjunction with advanced statistical and mathematical methods to explore the role of brain plasticity in learning and memory. Before their graduate studies, Aki worked as a Research Assistant at the National Taiwan University Hospital from September 2010 to June 2011, and as a Research Assistant at the University of Bern from July 2009 to June 2010. In these positions, they were involved in tasks such as writing E-Prime scripts, analyzing EEG data, administering EEG tests, and editing lab papers. Aki's research journey began as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Yale Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, where they worked from September 2007 to June 2009.

Aki Nikolaidis obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Yale University from 2005 to 2009. Aki then pursued higher education and completed a Ph.D in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois System, studying from 2011 to 2016. Prior to attending university, Aki completed their high school education at Wheeling High School from 2001 to 2005. Additionally, Aki Nikolaidis obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in October 2012.
