Jason Hammerschmidt

Jason Hammerschmidt has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years. Jason began their career as an IT Contractor for AECL in 1998. Jason then worked as a Network & Systems Engineer for Cyberplex in 1999. In 2000, they became a Configuration Manager for MacLaren McCann, an integrated advertising agency. In 2002, they became Managing Partner and VP of Business Development for Vergen Inc., a professional services and consulting firm. From 2004 to 2009, they served as Senior Network & Security Analyst for Metroland Media Group, a community newspaper and digital properties company. From 2009 to 2012, they were Senior Systems Engineer and Infrastructure Team Lead for the Halton Regional Police Service. From 2012 to 2018, they were Information Security Officer and Supervisor for the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). Finally, from 2018 to 2022, they were Owner and vCISO for ONCyber Inc., a full service MSSP. Currently, they are a Solutions Architect for Vulcan Cyber.

Jason Hammerschmidt's education history includes attending Sheridan College from 1994 to 1998, where they studied Telecommunications Engineering. Jason has also attended the Conference Board of Canada, the Canadian Management Center, the Niagara Institute, Lee Hecht Harrison Knightsbridge, and Kepner Tregoe. Jason holds certifications in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (obtained in December 2008 from (ISC)\u00b2), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) from EC-Council, and ITIL v3 Foundations from ITIL Certified.
