Vumatel was founded in 2014 by industry veterans Niel Schoeman, and Johan Pretorius, who pioneered Fibre to the Home (FTTH) in South Africa with a pilot project in Parkhurst. Vumatel has since connected homes to high speed open access fibre broadband across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. Since launching the business in 2014, Vumatel has been voted the best fixed-line broadband provider in South Africa. Vumatel builds the network in partnership with the community and connects every home, complex and apartment block to super-fast world-class fibre broadband. Vumatel also connects every Primary and High School passed when deploying the network to free 1GBPS fibre broadband internet. Vumatel builds an open access fibre network which means that Vumatel is not a service provider but simply installs the infrastructure. Residents can then choose from a number of Internet Service Providers for internet packages ranging from R396 per month* The open access nature of the network prevents the duplication of infrastructure and drives down prices for the end-user. Vumatel is recognised as the FTTH industry pioneer and leader. Vumatel has one of the most diverse range of services on its network and ensures that the end user has a world of options to choose from. This also makes the market far more competitive and drives down prices for the consumer. Vumatel has over 20 Internet Service Providers on its network ranging from Cell C and MWEB to Afrihost and Telkom. Vumatel is committed to building a connected South Africa. As our broadband demands increase and we rely on the internet more and more, there is a tangible need for a future-proof technology that will support the growing demands for internet speed and capacity. That future-proof technology is VUMA fibre.
