Sumanas Kar

Sumanas Kar has a diverse work experience in the insurance industry. Currently, they are the Regional Sales Director - South Asia | Insurance GTM at Vymo, a position they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, they were the Director - Insurance GTM at Vymo from September 2022 to April 2023.

Prior to OneInsure, Sumanas was the Regional Head at Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. Ltd from July 2015 to November 2015, where they were responsible for sales execution and handling the bancassurance function for the region.

From April 2006 to June 2015, Sumanas worked at PNB MetLife India Insurance Co. Ltd, where they held various roles such as General Manager, Regional Manager, Area Manager, and Territory Manager. Sumanas was involved in sales, business development, and account management. Sumanas played a key role in acquiring and launching various channels for the company and received the Annual Top Performer Award three times.

Sumanas also gained experience at Aviva India as a Sales Manager and Assistant Sales Manager from September 2004 to November 2006. Sumanas launched and scaled a partnership in Mumbai and handled sales roles in the bancassurance function across PSU, Pvt, and MNC Banks.

At the start of their career, Sumanas worked at ICICI Prudential as a Financial Services Consultant from December 2003 to September 2004. Sumanas gained valuable skills in relationship and channel management as well as domain knowledge in the insurance industry.

Sumanas Kar completed their ISC degree at Church School Beldih from 1985 to 1998. Sumanas then pursued a BSc in Statistics at Fergusson College from 1998 to 2001. Finally, they obtained a PGDBM degree in Marketing from the Institute for Technology and Management from 2002 to 2004.
