Mike Nelson

Regional Practice Leader, West Coast at W2O Group

Mike is a communications strategist with 20 years of experience spanning the innovative healthcare sector – including biopharma, devices and diagnostics. He finds his passion in partnering with clients to develop programs that deliver significant value to their organizations while positively impacting the lives of patients who can benefit from medical innovations. Mike’s career has been marked by deep commitments to complex therapeutic areas, particularly oncology, virology, neuroscience and rare disease.

Mike leads Integrated Communications on the West Coast, which includes client engagements that range from the largest global big-cap biopharmaceutical companies to emerging late-stage players entering the commercial stage to small-cap and private biotech companies, along with leading payers, providers and non-profits. He partners closely with clients and account teams to develop creative approaches that are implemented with the highest standards of client service and strategic oversight.

Previously, Mike served for five years at both the US and global levels at Roche, where he held various positions in communications, patient advocacy and public policy. He has worked in the healthcare practice at other leading agencies, including Hill+Knowlton Strategies and MSL.

Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin. He was also Texas State Champion in the Current Issues & Events academic competition during his high school years.
