Senior Software Developer I (rust) at Waabi

Sari McFarland has a diverse range of work experience. They started their career as a Computer Technician at Wanatabe Engineering Ltd. in 2001 and then moved on to become an Electrical Designer/Programmer at Watanabe Engineering Ltd. in 2006. In 2013, they worked as a Freelance Software Engineer before becoming self-employed.

In 2014, Sari joined Open Broadcaster as a Contractor and later became a Senior Python Developer. They were responsible for developing software to automate broadcast radio and television stations. During their tenure, they extended the software to allow radio hosts to conduct live shows through a web interface and added support for streaming from live concerts.

In 2018, Sari worked as an Intermediate Web Developer at Bananatag before joining GroundTruth in 2019 as a Senior Software Engineer. At GroundTruth, they played a crucial role in improving the technical debt and implemented a CI/CD pipeline with automated tests for better code quality and deployment.

Sari took a sabbatical in 2020 where they worked on various projects, including developing a 68k emulator in Rust, creating new PCB designs for Computie 68k, and porting RGBNode to Rust.

Currently, Sari is a Software Developer II (Rust) at Waabi, starting in 2022.

Sari McFarland began their education in 2001 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, where they studied Computer Science. Sari completed their studies in 2003. After that, they joined The University of British Columbia from 2003 to 2006, where they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
