Chris Tatum is a seasoned news professional with extensive experience in broadcasting, currently serving as a Morning News Anchor at WAAY-TV since September 2021, where responsibilities include on-air presentation and content management in a supervisory role. Previous positions include Morning News Anchor at WJCL Television and Evening Anchor/Reporter at WABG TV. Tatum has also held roles as an Anchor/Reporter/Multimedia Journalist at WTVA TV and worked in public relations as Senior Publicist at PLA Media, President of anew pr, and Director of Communications at WellCity, Incorporated. With a career spanning over three decades, Tatum has developed strong media relationships, cultivated news sources, and maintained a robust social media presence while also mentoring young reporters and producing impactful news content. Tatum holds a degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

WAAY 31 is the ABC affiliate in Huntsville-Decatur-Florence, AL and is part of Allen Media Broadcasting. WAAY 31 is North Alabama’s legacy station serving the region for almost 70-years. WAAY operates waaytv.com and airs This TV, ION, H&I and others from a transmitter at its Monte Sano Boulevard studios on top of Monte Sano Mountain, one of the most beautiful views in the area. WAAY 31 has been honored by the Alabama Broadcasters Association as Alabama’s 2022 Station of the Year. WAAY 31 is home to the nation’s largest privately owned radar network featuring three radars strategically placed from border to border across North Alabama.
