Karen Plaut is a board member at Wabash Heartland Innovation Network. Karen was formerly the interim dean of the College of Agriculture at Purdue University from July 2017 to May 2018. Prior to that, they were the associate dean/director of research at Purdue University from June 2010 to July 2017, where their job was to enhance faculty success by enhancing research opportunities, building partnerships and supporting infrastructure for labs and core facilities. From January 2005 to June 2010, they were chair and professor at Michigan State University. From January 2000 to January 2005, they were chair and professor at the University of Vermont. From January 1998 to January 2000, they were lead scientist of the International Space Station Biological Research Project at NASA Ames Research Center. From January 1990 to January 2005, they were an assistant and associate professor at the Department of Animal Science at the University of Vermont.
Karen Plaut graduated with a PhD in Animal Science from Cornell University, where they also studied physiology and endocrinology. Karen has a MS in Animal Nutrition from Penn State University and a BS in Animal Science from the University of Vermont.
