Jan Schaart is a seasoned scientific researcher with extensive experience in plant molecular biology at Wageningen Plant Research since 1986. Specializing in the genetic modification of plant crops, Jan's expertise includes cisgenesis and zinc finger nuclease-mediated genome modification. Jan completed a PhD at Wageningen University between 2000 and 2004, focusing on developing consumer-friendly cisgenic strawberries with reduced susceptibility to Botrytis cinerea. Jan holds an MSc in Biology from Utrecht University and an Ing in Biotechnology from HLO School for Technicians in Groningen.
