Wagner College
Claire Regan is an accomplished journalist and educator with extensive experience in various roles within the media industry. Currently serving as the immediate past president of the Society of Professional Journalists, Claire held the position of national president during 2022-2023 and has participated in leadership roles within the organization since 2021. As a contributing writer for Staten Island Advance since 1990, Claire covers a wide range of topics and has held various editorial positions, including associate managing editor and city editor. Additionally, Claire is an assistant professor of journalism at Wagner College, teaching courses on editing, design, and ethics while advising the student newspaper. Other notable contributions include serving as past president of The Deadline Club, editing a coronavirus facts database for The Poynter Institute, and facilitating judging for the Society for News Design's international competition. Claire holds a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Wagner College and is an Ethics Fellow at the Poynter Institute.
