Ellen Fortini

Program Developer And Lead Demonstrator/presenter at Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research

Ellen Fortini is an experienced educator and program developer with a background in student development and science education. As the Director of Student Development at St Catherine's College, UWA since January 2015, Ellen has collaborated with leadership to enhance pastoral care and academic support for student residents, and has developed the 'Transition to University' program to facilitate mentoring and academic workshops. At the LotteryWest BioDiscovery Centre and Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, Ellen has served as a Program Developer and Lead Demonstrator/Presenter since February 2011, where responsibilities included creating curriculum-linked activities for secondary science students, leading laboratory classes, and designing the 'Perkins Profs Academy' program. Ellen has also completed a PhD, focusing on the role of long non-coding RNA in subnuclear complex formation and function, gaining expertise in both wet lab and dry lab techniques. Education was completed at The University of Western Australia and Seton Catholic College.
