Umar Mohamad

Umar Mohamad's work experience begins with their role as the Head of Compliance UK (SMF16) at Wakam starting in March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the External Board Trustee and Chair of the People Sub-Committee at the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union from September 2022. Umar was also a Board Trustee at Classroom Learning On Wheels, Doing Education Right from February 2022 to April 2023. Umar then worked as the Risk and Compliance Lead UK/EU at Flock, a digital insurance company, from March 2022 to March 2023. Umar gained experience as the Head of Compliance Monitoring at AmTrust Europe Limited from September 2019 to March 2022. Before that, they worked as a Consultant at Bovill from June 2017 to August 2019. Umar has also held positions at EY as a Senior Consultant in Insurance Regulatory Advisory from February 2014 to June 2017, at Chubb (formerly ACE Group) as a Compliance Analyst from April 2012 to January 2014, at TWG - The Warranty Group Services as a Regulatory Compliance Assistant from July 2011 to March 2012, and at Linklaters as a Legal Knowledge Support from March 2011 to June 2011.

Umar Mohamad obtained a Legal Practice Course degree from The University of Law between 2008 and 2010. Prior to that, they completed their LLB (Hons) in Law at Kingston University from 2004 to 2007. Umar also holds additional certifications in the field of compliance and privacy, including the ICA Certificate in Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association (obtained year unspecified) and the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals, which they obtained in June 2018.
