Ve-Lecia Council Barnes

Ve-Lecia Council Barnes serves as the Northeastern Area Superintendent for Wake County Public School System since April 2020. Prior to this role, Ve-Lecia held the position of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Pitt County Schools from January 2016 to March 2020, where responsibilities included supervising the Human Resources Department, overseeing recruitment and retention processes, and managing employee evaluations. Previous experience also includes the role of Director of Alternative Learning Programs at Wake County Public Schools in late 2015 and an Academic Improvement Officer at Indianapolis Public Schools. Ve-Lecia's educational background includes a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from Fayetteville State University and multiple degrees from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
