Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc. (WIMC) is a professional corporation that grew out of the Internal Medicine practice of Dr. Thomas Umphlet. Dr. Umphlet began his practice in 1938 at the Cameron Apartments building in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a medical office and onsite lab. This lab was the only approved serology lab in North Carolina that was not state owned. WIMC offers general medical care to adults, and now children, with subspecialty care in: Cardiology Gastroenterology Geriatrics Gynecology Pulmonology Sleep Medicine Pediatrics After months of planning, the practice expanded to its new North Raleigh satellite location in March 2008. Conveniently located in the new Durant Medical Center, WIMC continues its focus on Internal Medicine, with the addition of a Pediatrics program!
