Dr. Peter Leuchtmann joined Wake Radiology in 2006. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Leuchtmann received his undergraduate educations at the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. He then completed his medical training in Indianapolis, with a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. After an internship in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, he completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Leuchtmann then completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, followed by a second fellowship – Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Leuchtmann currently practices both musculoskeletal radiology and vascular/interventional radiology, and he serves as co-director of the Interventional Radiology section of Wake Radiology. He is one of the practice’s joint and spine intervention specialists. He also has a special clinical interest in interventional oncology. He is board certified in Interventional Radiology / Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Dr. Leuchtmann is as member of the American College of Radiology (ACR), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) and Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
