Ian Villanueva

Ian Villanueva is a highly experienced General and Bariatric Surgeon, currently serving at WakeMed since December 2014 with full privileges across multiple campuses and surgery centers. Additionally, Ian holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at UNC Health Care and previously practiced at Carolinas Healthcare System as a Bariatric and General Surgeon. Ian's career includes extensive surgical practice at Kansas Surgical Consultants and the Wesley Medical Center, where the role of Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery was held. As a fellow in Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric and GI Surgery at Carolinas Healthcare System, Ian completed over 370 advanced laparoscopic surgeries. Ian's medical education includes an M.D. from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and a B.S. in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis.
