Laura Shelmerdine has a diverse work experience in the textile and design industry. Laura started their career at Diane von Furstenberg as a Design Intern in 2008 and subsequently worked as a Design Intern at Larch Rose and Jack Jones. In 2009, they interned as a Fabric Sourcing Intern at Next Group PLC.

From 2010 to 2018, Laura worked at Furnishing Fabric Agencies Ltd as a Product Developer and Designer. Their role involved managing fabric development between UK clients and international suppliers, including luxury textile brands and high street chains. Laura collaborated with suppliers to meet client specifications, coordinated fabric redevelopment, and negotiated prices.

In 2018, Laura joined Asda as a Product Technologist, specializing in Cushions, Rugs, Throws (CRT) Curtains, and Bathroom products. Laura focused on product development, quality, and safety, handling over 500 skus per season. Additionally, they led sustainability efforts, working towards Asda's goal of using 100% recycled polyester by 2025.

Since 2019, Laura has been working at Sanderson Design Group plc. Laura initially served as the Sourcing and Design Development-Weave for Harlequin and Scion at Style Library. Currently, they hold the position of Supplier Development Manager.

Laura Shelmerdine obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Multi Media Textile Design from Loughborough University, where they attended from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed an Art and Design Foundation program at Oxford Brookes University from 2005 to 2006.
