Wallenius Lines
Wallenius Lines is an investor and active owner within the global shipping industry, specifically the international car and Ro-Ro segment which has become the trademark for Wallenius. In the 1960's, Wallenius pioneered the RoRo concept, first on the North Atlantic trade and later on the Asian trade when Wallenius became the first independent shipping line to work with Japan's automobile manufacturing industry. With a strong focus on innovation, Wallenius Lines continued to develop the car transportation concept, with both vessel design projects and logistic solutions. Today, some of the world’s largest car and RoRo networks are included in the investment portfolio: Together with one of the world’s largest shipping company, the Japanese NYK, Wallenius Lines owns 50% of the short-sea shipping line United European Car Carrier, UECC. Since April 2017, Wallenius Lines along with Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA is the majority shareholder in Wallenius Wilhelmsen ASA, listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Wallenius Lines also owns 50 % of WALLENIUS SOL, together with Svenska Orient Linien (SOL). WALLENIUS SOL started in April 2019 with the purpose to strengthen the infrastructure at the Baltic Sea. Wallenius Lines own 50% of AlfaWall Oceanbird, a joint venture with Alfa Laval. Oceanbird started in December 2021 and develops stiff wing sails to the shipping industry. Wallenius Lines is fully owned by Rederi AB Soya and part of the Soya Group.
