Khalid Essafi has a strong background in regulatory and compliance roles within the financial industry. Khalid is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at Walleye Trading Advisors since June 2019. Prior to this, they were the Director of Regulation Surveillance Development at the New York Stock Exchange from April 2018 to June 2019. Khalid also worked at Citadel LLC as a Trading Surveillance professional from July 2017 to April 2018. Additionally, Khalid has experience as the Principal at Samara Compliance LLC, where they provided regulatory, compliance, and surveillance consulting services to broker-dealers from March 2017 to April 2018. Khalid served as the Director of Market Surveillance at Nasdaq from July 2016 to March 2017, where they led a team in designing and testing surveillance patterns for multiple options exchanges. Before joining Nasdaq, Khalid worked at International Securities Exchange Holdings, Inc. (ISE Holdings) for over a decade, holding various roles including Director of Market Surveillance, Surveillance Manager, and Senior Analyst. Khalid managed all aspects of regulatory technology and helped build a strong regulatory program for options, equity, ETFs, and indices. Khalid began their career as a Graduate Assistant at St. John's University.

Khalid Essafi completed their education at various institutions, starting with St. John's University in 1997. Khalid pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at this institution and completed their studies in the field of Finance in the year 2000. Subsequently, in 1998, Khalid enrolled in an MBA program at St. John's University, specializing in Finance.

In more recent years, from 2015 to 2018, Khalid attended The Wharton School, where they participated in the Executive Development Program for financial services professionals. Their chosen field of study during this program was Executive Leadership.
