Wei Jia

Wei Jia is a Principal Data Scientist at Walmart, leading the Generative AI strategy and execution within the E2E Data Science & Analytics organization since 2025. Previously, Wei served as a Staff Data Scientist at Seismic, overseeing the development of a Generative Search engine and a recommendation engine utilizing deep learning techniques. Wei also held the position of Lead Data Scientist at Michaels Stores, where responsibilities included developing personalized advertising algorithms and customer segmentation models. Earlier roles include consulting for The World Bank and various academic positions, including Instructor at Brandeis School of Business and Economics and Graduate Research Assistant positions at multiple institutions. Wei holds a Ph.D. in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis School of Business and Economics, and master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Michigan and Peking University, respectively, in Applied Economics, Economics, and Physics.
