Walnut Creek School District
Kendall Thornton is a dedicated Special Education Teacher with experience in various educational settings, currently serving in the Walnut Creek School District since August 2022. Prior to this role, Kendall worked in the Austin Independent School District and served as a Second Grade Student Teacher at Glenn Stephens Elementary School, conducting culturally responsive lesson plans and participating in IEP meetings. Additional experience includes practicums at Heugel Elementary School and Crestwood Elementary School, where Kendall developed individualized lesson plans, fostered supportive learning environments, and facilitated transitions to virtual instruction. Kendall holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed in 2021.

The Walnut Creek School District is responsible for meeting the educational needs of approximately 3,600 students enrolled in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. We operate five K-5 neighborhood elementary schools, one K-8 school, and one 6-8 intermediate school. Grades K-5 are primarily self-contained, while grades 6-8 offer a mixture of core and elective classes.
