Florian Schneider is a Chair Professor of Modern China at Leiden University, where research interests encompass politics, media, communication in the PRC, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, with a focus on digital technologies and East Asian international relations. Schneider also serves as a University Senior Lecturer and University Lecturer, teaching various courses on Modern China and supervising PhD students. Additionally, Schneider is the director of LeidenAsiaCentre and managing editor of the peer-reviewed journal Asiascape: Digital Asia, examining the impacts of digital media in the region. Previous experience includes roles as a language editor at Koninklijke Brill, project management assistant and policy advisor at the Senate of Hamburg's China Cooperation Office, and freelance editing and translation work. Schneider holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from The University of Sheffield and a Master's degree in Sinology, Political Science, and Economics from the University of Hamburg.
