Welcome to Walter Scott.
Walter Scott is a growth equity manager, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We invest in world-leading companies and hold them for the long term — and by that, we mean anywhere from five years to forever. To do this, we take a selective, team-based approach, grounded in fundamental analysis.

Since we were founded in 1983, the principle of ‘One’ has defined us:

Who we are: One ambition.
We strive to be the best at everything we do for our clients. It’s a culture that’s been passed down through generations. This one ambition is shared by everyone who works here — across research, client service and operations.

What we do: One approach.
Our philosophy is simple: over time share prices track earnings growth. In the short run, they are influenced by sentiment, liquidity and market speculation. However, over the long run, it’s corporate earnings – not markets – that drive share prices, and consequently portfolio returns.

How we do it: One team.
We believe a team comprised of bright people with diversity of thought, perspective and academic background makes better decisions. Our collaborative approach fosters rigour, rationality and conviction over bias. We build diversified portfolios as one team.

One reason for choosing Walter Scott.
We seek out those rare companies that are also looking to continue to grow and prosper over decades to come. This approach has resulted in strong absolute and relative returns over the long term. It’s no coincidence that the clients we attract share that same long-term mindset, entrusting us to invest their capital responsibly. If that’s the approach you are looking for, then we are the right fit for you.
