Thomas Jacob has a comprehensive work experience spanning several years. Thomas began their career as an Electronics Engineer at The Mathrubhumi Printing And Publishing Company Ltd in 1984 and worked their way up to becoming a Technical Manager. In 1992, they joined AMIC as the Head of the Press Development Programme. After four years, they moved on to IFRA Asia, where they served as the Managing Director until 2002. From 2002 to 2008, they worked as the International Development Director at dmg media. In 2008, Thomas joined WAN-IFRA as the Deputy CEO and Managing Director, Greater Asia Pacific. Eventually, they took up the role of Chief Operating Officer at the same company in 2012, where they continue to contribute their expertise.

Thomas Jacob has a diverse education history. Thomas completed their MBA in Management at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, they pursued Advance Studies in Computer Networks at the Information Communication Institute of Singapore, NTU, without specifying the start and end year. Thomas obtained their BE in Electronics & Telecommunications from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka from 1980 to 1984. Their Pre-Degree in Physical Sciences was achieved from Sacred Heart College, Kochi, between 1978 and 1980. Lastly, they completed their high school education at Rajagiri High School from 1973 to 1978.
