Bruce Campbell is Chief Development, Distribution & Legal Officer at Discovery where he oversees Corporate Development, Domestic Distribution, Global Legal Affairs, and Business Affairs & Production Management. In his Corporate Development role, Campbell has led the origination and execution of many of the company’s most important transactions, including the recent merger with Warner Media and acquisitions of Scripps Networks Interactive, SBS Nordics and Eurosport. Campbell has also negotiated significant investments in Group Nine Media, Formula E, and UK production company, All3Media, as well as many of Discovery’s joint ventures, including OWN, a partnership with Oprah Winfrey; the MotorTrend digital media and production company; and the Discovery Family network with Hasbro.
Before joining Discovery in 2007, Campbell was Executive Vice President, Business Development for NBCUniversal where he was responsible for strategic planning and corporate transactions. Campbell played an integral role in a series of NBCU acquisitions, including Telemundo in 2002 and Vivendi Universal Entertainment in 2004. Prior to leaving NBCU, Campbell represented the company in negotiating the online video joint venture with News Corp that became Hulu. Campbell began his career with the Los Angeles law firm, O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he specialized in corporate and securities law. He holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
