Christopher David Johnston

Christopher David Johnston, Ph.D. has extensive experience in education, holding various roles in different school districts. Christopher David is currently the Principal at Warren County Public Schools starting in 2023. Prior to this role, they served as an Assistant Principal at Loudoun County Public Schools from 2016 to 2023, where they managed instructional programs, led the special education program, and participated in the Autism Services Improvement Team. From 2008 to 2016, they worked as an Assistant Principal at Fauquier County Public Schools, where they built relationships with students and teachers, coordinated international field trips, and implemented process improvements. Before that, they served as an Assistant Principal at King George County Schools from 2006 to 2008, where they analyzed teacher practices, managed budgets, and implemented a program for at-risk males. Christopher David also worked as an Administrative Assistant at Spotsylvania County Public Schools from 2005 to 2006, where they facilitated communication between parents, teachers, and students. Their career in education began as a Social Studies Teacher at Chesapeake Public Schools from 2000 to 2005, where they created curriculum, managed budgets, and developed city-wide curriculum guides.

Christopher David Johnston, Ph.D. has a strong educational background that includes a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech, completed between 2011 and 2017. Prior to that, they earned an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University in 2004. Their Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction was obtained from Virginia Tech between 1999 and 2000. Their undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech resulted in a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Political Science, which they completed from 1994 to 1999. In addition to their formal education, Johnston has obtained several certifications, including Cognitive Coaching from Thinking Collaborative, Google Certified Educator: Level One from Google, and MANDT Trainer from The Mandt System, Inc. Christopher David has also achieved a Division Superintendent License and a Postgraduate Professional License from the Virginia Department of Education, and a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management from Virginia Tech in 2013.
