Gary Zittergruen has extensive experience in education, currently serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Education Department at Wartburg College since July 2020. Previously, Gary held various leadership roles in the Benton Community School District from August 1985 to June 2019, including Superintendent, High School Principal, Middle School/Associate High School Principal, and Elementary Principal at Atkins Center. As Superintendent, Gary focused on creating a vision for quality teaching and innovative learning. Additionally, Gary coached the Benton Community High School softball team for 13 years, leading them to victory in the Class 2A State Championship in 1998. Earlier in Gary's career, roles included teaching and administrative positions at Shellsburg Community School District. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Wartburg College. Gary also served on the Early Childhood Iowa State Board as a Board Member in April 2020.
