Shaheen Amirali

Shaheen Amirali has served on the Board of Directors since January 1, 2022. She is also Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer of AltaGas Ltd., the indirect parent company of WGL Holdings, Inc. and Washington Gas Light Company. Ms. Amirali leads AltaGas’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives through a focused platform led corporately in support of the sustainability of AltaGas’ business and operations enterprise wide. Through this role she oversees AltaGas’ enterprise-wide ESG strategy and execution, stakeholder relations efforts including the company’s Indigenous and community affairs, and internal and external communications. She is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company’s governance framework and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Ms. Amirali joined AltaGas as Corporate Counsel in 2007 and has served in a number of senior roles at AltaGas. She also served as Corporate Secretary of Washington Gas Light Company from April 2020 until May 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in Environmental and Conservation Sciences and a Bachelor of Laws degree, both from the University of Alberta, Canada.
