Betsy Philpott has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Betsy started their career as a Litigation Legal Assistant at Weil Gotshal and Manges from May 2003 to July 2005. Betsy then moved on to McDermott Will & Emery, where they worked as an Associate from September 2008 to January 2013. In 2013, they joined the Major League Soccer Players Union as a Law Clerk, a position they held until July 2014.

Betsy's career progressed as they joined the Washington Nationals in April 2014 as a Legal Affairs Specialist. Betsy was later promoted to Counsel in January 2016 and served in that role until January 2018. From there, they became Deputy General Counsel until February 2020. Betsy then took on the role of Vice President & General Counsel until January 2022 when they were promoted to Senior Vice President & General Counsel.

Alongside their work at the Washington Nationals, Betsy also served as a Capstone Advisor in the Sports Industry Management Program at Georgetown University from June 2016 to December 2021.

Betsy Philpott completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology at the University of Virginia from 1999 to 2003. After their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree at Vanderbilt University Law School, where they attended from 2005 to 2008. Subsequently, in 2013, they earned a Master of Professional Studies degree in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University. In terms of certifications, Betsy obtained the Washington, D.C. Bar certification from the District of Columbia Bar Association in August 2009, and they obtained the Virginia Bar certification from the Virginia Bar Association in October 2008.
