Assistant Director of Communications & Creative Media at Washington Performing Arts

Ceylon Mitchell II is the Assistant Director of Communications & Creative Media at Washington Performing Arts. Prior to this, they were an Artist in Residence at Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc., where they curated performance series of original music and educational workshops, and produced and composed a commissioned original piece for performance. Ceylon has also served as a Communications and Public Relations Manager at the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County and as an Independent Consultant at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

After graduating from East Anchorage High School, Ceylon Mitchell II pursued a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and Music Education at Boston University. Ceylon continued their studies at the University of Maryland, first earning their Master of Music in Performance, then their Master of Music in Education. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Musical Arts in Woodwind Performance - Flute at the University of Maryland. In addition to their formal education, Ceylon Mitchell II has also earned a number of certifications from LinkedIn and Lynda.com in subjects such as Lightroom, After Effects, Portrait Photography, Business Foundations, Entrepreneurship Foundations, and Google Analytics.
