Fausto R. Bayonet

Commissioner at Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission

Fausto R. Bayonet was appointed to the WSSC Board of Commissioners in June 2015. He served as its Chairman for Fiscal Year 2017, and recently elected as Chairman for Fiscal Year 2023. An architect who has worked in the architectural and engineering fields for three decades, he has lived in Montgomery County for more than 40 years.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Bayonet earned his bachelor’s degree in Architecture from that country’s Eastern Central University. He furthered his architectural studies at the University of Maryland when he came to the Washington area in 1971.

Bayonet has had a role in the design of numerous commercial and government projects throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, such as renovations to University of Maryland’s Byrd Stadium, the Embassy of Nicaragua and the U.S. District Courthouse in Alexandria, Virginia. He has also done consulting work for the University of Maryland’s Office of Architectural Services.

Bayonet shared his consulting skills as Mentor and Sales Instructor with the former Bell Atlantic company, where his efforts led to increased sales at branches in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.

A 20-year member of the Montgomery County Democratic Party, Bayonet is a veteran campaigner, having done volunteer work for county executives and Council members, governors, lieutenant governors, delegates, congressmen and senators. He is also a member of the Hispanic Democratic Club of Montgomery County and served on its executive board. In addition, he has volunteered for different institutions that serve the Latino community of the Metropolitan area.
