Jeffrey Hysen

Board Member at Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission

Jeffrey (Jeff) Hysen joins the board after serving the Federal Government for 31 years as an Assistant Regional Counsel with the General Services Administration (GSA), National Capital Region, in Washington, DC. In that capacity, he was lead counsel on all ethics issues.

At GSA, his duties included: training employees each year on the Standards of Conduct and ethics related regulations; training new employees on ethics rules; supervising the distribution of over 500 Confidential Financial Disclosure Forms; supervising the review of the Confidential Financial Disclosure Forms; training other attorneys on the proper review of the Confidential Financial Disclosure Forms; and, counseling employees on matters involving the Standards of Conduct and the Hatch Act. Mr. Hysen also was lead counsel on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) issues and lead counsel on matters involving appropriations law.

Mr. Hysen graduated from Clark University and received his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. He resides in Montgomery County and was appointed to the board as a regular member in 2019.
