Al Heller has more than 40 years of leadership experience across a broad range of healthcare segments, with particular expertise in life sciences. He is the former president and chief executive officer of American Pharmaceutical Partners Inc. (APPI), a leading manufacturer of multi-source and branded injectable pharmaceutical products. Prior to APPI, Al worked as an operating partner with members of the Water Street team at One Equity Partners, the private equity firm of JPMorgan. Al also served as senior vice president and president of Global Renal Operations at Baxter International. In this role, he led global operations for the Renal and Transfusion Therapies divisions, as well as global manufacturing and the office of the chief scientific officer. Al began his career at G.D. Searle. During his 23 years with the company, he was promoted to numerous positions. He was co-president and COO, and executive vice president and president of Searle Operations, a position in which he oversaw Searle’s integration with Pharmacia. Al also served as a member of the Monsanto and Pharmacia Management Committees. He currently serves as chairman of Capstone Development Solutions, Custopharm, Long Grove Pharmaceuticals and Neos Therapeutics. Al received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago and his master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University.
