Erik Harvey

Erik Harvey has a diverse work experience in the water and sanitation sector. Erik started their career as a Regional Engineer at Mvula Trust in 1996 and then moved on to become the Regional Manager at the same organization in 1998. In 2001, they joined the Water Sector Support Unit, where they served as the Unit Coordinator, supporting government programs related to devolving powers and functions in the water and sanitation sector.

In 2002, Erik joined WaterAid as a Programme Manager in Mozambique, where they opened a new office in Quelimane and provided technical assistance to the provincial government. Erik developed a concept for WaterAid's ongoing support to the province by demonstrating viable rural and urban water and sanitation development models. Erik then became the Technical Support Manager in 2008, managing the technical aspects of WaterAid's programs.

In 2012, Erik took on the role of Acting Head of the Technical Support Unit before becoming the Programme Support Unit Director. In this role, they led a team that provided targeted support to country programs and other key parts of the organization. Erik focused on thought leadership on programmatic design and quality implementation, research, learning, and programmatic accountability and effectiveness.

Erik Harvey pursued their education in the field of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. Erik obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from 1988 to 1992, and later pursued a Master of Science degree from 1993 to 1996, both in Mechanical Engineering.
